I could feel and see everything in some of the poems so vividly and could even relate to some of them personally.

Sarah Kay also had the guts to take its stage and hold her own against performers at least a decade her senior. Nettles, slippery elm, turmeric, cinnamon - my mother is a recipe for warm throats and belly laughs.Hopping on the poetry bandwagon for 2018 is intimidating considering my exposure to the hype as I have been resisting it for quite a while now. I appreciate Sarah's collection because I definitely got to experience poetry in a different perspective. I think the best word to describe this collection is EARNEST; Sarah has truly poured her heart and soul into these poems. No Matter the Wreckage presents readers with new and beloved work that showcases Kay's knack for celebrating family, love, travel, history, and unlikely love affairs between inanimate objects ("Toothbrush to the Bicycle Tire"), among other curious topics.

What sets No Matter the Wreckage apart is Kay's ability to find magic in the ordinary, painting intimate portraits of unlikely love affairs between objects and exploring whimsical topics. And I know we live in different worlds, and we're always really busy, but in my dreams you spin around me so fast, I always wake up dizzy. There are poems about so many different subjects here all carefully constructed and eloquently written. Some of the poems are not new to those who have followed her videos on YouTube and seen her TEDtalks, so they will be accustomed to infamous pieces such as B, Shosholoza, Montauk and Private Parts. I didn't know anything about Sarah Kay or her poetry before I met her at the signing for Jonny Sun's book this past June, but once I heard her read her poem "The Paradox," I was immediately enthralled and added her poetry collection, No Matter The Wreckage, to my TBR and my Christmas want list.I guess right now the poem I am thinking about the most is the poem Ghost Ship, a line from which inspired the title for this collection.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. No Matter the Wreckage' is the kind of book that keeps getting better and better as you read through. A best-selling author of four books of poetry including B, No Matter the Wreckage, The Type, and All Our Wild Wonder. Her elegant words celebrate family bonds, young love, travel, and the echoes of history shaping our present.

I'm sad to say I didn't really enjoy this poetry collection, specially since everyone who's read this seems to love it.I have shared the poem with all my friends and so far bought 5 copies of her beautifully illustrated hardback book of the same poem to give a copy to all my friends after they heard her words on the TED video.
