Jess becomes angry with his father for his attitude toward him, and he loses his belief in Terabithia, refusing its existence the next day at school. Josh Hutcherson was not their first choice for the role of Jesse Aarons, but they settled with him because they "felt the chemistry between AnnaSophia Robb and him". Hutcherson won "Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young Actor", Robb won "Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young Actress", and Bailee Madison won "Best Performance in a Feature Film – Young Actress Age Ten or Younger". Rather than being a fairytale for youngsters, the movie actually gives the viewer an inside look in a young boy's life and all the troubles he faces, concerning school, family and friends.

Overall, I found the movie very enjoyable, but I would advise parents of young children to find out more about the movie, before deciding on whether or not you'll let your kids watch it. I don't know, but when I find a fantasy film by Disney, I'm expecting something a little more exciting than a thoughtful meditation on how the friendship between and imaginations of two eccentric youths play an instrumental factor in their coming of age and finding paths in lives. Ann Hornaday of The Washington Post praised the script for being "utterly recognizable and authentic", and thought Robb and Hutcherson were "perfectly cast". On Metacritic the film received a weighted average score of 74/100 based on 25 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".

He also said that he took on the role because he wanted to star in a film that his children could watch. It received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its visuals, cast performances, and faithfulness to the source material. It is a charming, loving, and magical tale about a boy and girl who become friends and each is a little different, and they find a forest and make it there magical world, but then tragedy occurs. The filmmakers distanced themselves from the advertising campaign for the film, saying that it was deliberately misleading and made the film seem to be about, or occurring in, a fantasy world. When the bridge is cleared, you can find glimpses of decency through hauntingly well-done visuals, inspired performances and promising subject matter, but in the end, limitations within the meat of the subject matter are so intensely stressed by repetitious, incoherent and trite story structuring and cloying sentimentality that Gábor Csupó's "Bridge to Terabithia" ultimately crashes into mediocrity under the weight of laziness that is not matched by inspiration enough for me to escape the sad reality that this is nothing special. Bridge to Terabithia was released in the United States on February 16, 2007, by Buena Vista Pictures. It's debatable whether or not filler holds substance, as most beats in this story reinforce coming-of-age thematic depths, but they're ultimately too repetitious to be all that engaging, and some serious incoherencies to a near-unstructured plot body are by no means helpful.

The New York Times critic Jeannette Catsoulis believed that the fantasy was kept in the background "to find magic in the everyday", and thought Csupó directed "like someone intimate with the pain of being different, allowing each personality more than a single characteristic". A preteen's life turns upside down when he befriends the new girl in school and they imagine a whole new fantasy world to escape reality. We needed someone who could go from an introverted boy in an isolated world to someone who completely taps into his imagination and becomes a confident, brave leader in Terabithia.Although there is a generation that is very familiar with the book, if you are over 40, then you probably haven't, and we need to reach them. I shall not spoil the story for those who have yet to see the movie, but I will say that, in my opinion, this movie is for a more mature audience than one would think. Bridge to Terabithia is a 2007 American fantasy drama film directed by Gábor Csupó from a screenplay by David L. The film won five awards at the Young Artist Awards, including "Best Family Feature Film (Fantasy or Musical)". Oh, whether the lyric be super corny or not, Neal Morse does enough damage with his cheesy vocals, but boy, he knows how to prog rock on a keyboard, and that kind of flare is worth waiting for, something that I kind of wish I could say about this film.

Csupó stated that he was interested in making the film because he "had the ambition to do a live-action film for a long time", but that he "didn't like anything until I read this book".

Robb also conversed with producer Lauren Levine before casting even began, and "their conversation convinced her that, without a doubt, AnnaSophia was meant for this role". Four of the tracks from the film's score, was only featured in the soundtrack, and Zigman's score was separately released from the album, in December 2007, only for promotional use.
